What to do in London at Christmas!

You know it, I know it, everybody knows it: love it or hate it, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year by popular demand – might as well enjoy it at its best! There are plenty of things to do in London for Christmas, number one, like every respectable city, Christmas markets! Visit one (or all) the best Christmas markets in London, and let us know which one was your favorite! If you find one that wasn’t included here, please please pllllease share it!

  1. Greenwich Market: antiques, jewellery, all sorts of pretty trinkets and many, many Christmas lights!
  2. Amble around Kingston’s Christmas market: try the mulled wine with sticky sweet treats or savory delicacies from all around the world, find decorations and handcrafted gifts for you and your loved ones
  3. Leicester Square: here you can find fun shows and activities to entertain yourself and your children too! Find more fun things to do in London with your family in this article.
  4. Go to Riverside Christmas markets: browse at the Winter Market at Southbank Centre, with views of Tower Bridge by the River at London Bridge City, it’s really, really pretty, strongly recommended!
  5. Brixton Village and Pop Brixton are for unique pieces and thingies from local producers, every Sunday in December.

If you’re the active type, you should really choose at least one of these panoramic skating rinks:

  1. Hampton Court Palace ice rink
  2. Winter Wonderland has the biggest ice rink in the UK!
  3. SOMERSET HOUSE, a yours truly favorite.
  4. Make sure you check out the Skylight Tobacco Dock, the rooftop bar might be converted into a breath-taking ice rink
  5. Skate at the Queen’s House Ice Rink surrounded by the Maritime Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Fill your Christmas with truly magical experiences that will leave you wide-eyed with surprise!

  1. Wander around Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park and check out all the activities it has to offer! Skating, shows, games, everything and anything!
  2. Experience Christmas at Kew at the Royal Botanical Gardens, enchanting is the word you’re looking for!
  3. Book a Christmas lights bus tour for an easy tour of the city, twinkling above you. Romantic? Very! Especially,  you should reach South Molton Street for some of London’s most unique Christmas lights.
  4. If you’re a fan (but even if you aren’t) you need to see Hogwarts in the Snowa Warner Bros. studio tour in its festive Christmas Christmas attire
  5. Explore Windsor Castle: the magnificent Christmas decorations of the famous castle are nothing less than fit for royalty

Fancy a walk? Here are some lightseeing spots you shouldn’t miss!

  1. Maybe one of the most touristy, but still beautiful, the Christmas tree in Trafalgar square.
  2. Watch Oxford Street Christmas lights shimmer above the world-famous shopping district where you can incidentally fins a TON of Christmas gifts and, just around the corner on regent street, Hamleys has multiple floors dedicated to your kids (and your inner child – be healed).
  3. Check out the twinkling lights across Carnaby Street: not only are they beautiful, but they are also themed!
  4. Admire the gorgeous mistletoe chandeliers at Covent Garden and Seven Dials
  5. See the luxurious area of Bond Street sparkle with its magnificent Christmas lights.
  6. Take a picture under the arches of South Molton StreetSpot some of London’s most unique Christmas lights.
  7. Duke of York in Chelsea is just glorious!: A sight you won’t want to miss.
  8. Head to the South Bank for a stroll under more pretty and shiny lights!
