What history could a pub have? What, history of being drunk in London? YES.
See, a thousand years ago, All the drinking water came from the rivers, and wells. Beer was safer to drink than water, for obvious reasons. The pubs, memento of the Roman Tavernae, served home-brewed beer to its hungry and thirsty customers, in search of a gathering spot to conduct business or restore after a day of hard work.
In London’s many pubs drank together criminals and literary geniuses, either planning a heist or thinking of new poems… or both?
Shakespeare, Lenin, Stalin, Hemingway, Dickens, and the famously unknown Jack the Ripper, all sat down in London’s pubs, and with a fresh pint before them, made history.
